AFCEE and its future focus in Technology Transfer
The emphasis of the AFCEE Technology Transfer Program in the recent past has been on the demonstration and application of cost effective remediation technologies. The focus is shifting to continue modeling work to avoid paying unnecessary remediation work, and by reducing the LTO/LTM costs with existing or new systems. This new strategy also corrects the failures of some current candidate solutions by using remedial process optimization (RPO) and pollution prevention (P2) processes. The figure below illustrates this shift in emphasis from remediation technologies for fuels, solvents, landfills, and firing range sites, to modeling, LTO/LTM, RPO, and P2.
