The Air Force Design and Construction Awards Program is about excellence. It not only recognizes the excellence of good design and attractive structures, but it also recognizes the excellence of the individuals behind the scenes who make these buildings and structures possible. We work as a team, within the Air Force, and with our Design Agents, to build exceptional installations and facilities. The team includes our architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, and planners. All of these disciplines work together in creating excellence in facility designs. Our Design Agents work hand-and-hand with us to obtain this excellence and the Design Awards Program recognizes their efforts as well. The Air Force takes great pride in its installations and facilities. We look at our installations as more than just collections of buildings and infrastructure - they are well-planned communities. Good design enhances the quality of life of our people. We encourage recognizing the people who make great efforts in creating excellent communities. We"re recognizing good design in architecture, interiors, community planning, and landscapes. We also recognized the project managers and agencies that bring it all together.
USAF Design & Construction Agent Awards
Applicable information regarding The Air Force Civilian Project Manager of the Year Awards and The Air Force District, Division or Host Nation Agent of the Year Awards is from Chapter 4, AFI 36-2817, Civil Engineer Awards Program. Supplemental instructions are also included herein.
The Civil Engineer annually recognizes the Corps of Engineers (COE), Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), and Host Nation Agency organizations and personnel for outstanding achievement and urges major commands (MAJCOM), field operating agencies (FOA), and direct reporting units (DRU) to submit nominations for the agent awards program.
USAF Design Excellence Awards
This award recognizes one Air Force military (active duty, Reserves [USAFR], or Air National Guard [ANG]) and one civilian member who have demonstrated (for at least 10 years) an exemplary commitment to the achievement of excellence in Air Force facilities design. Although nominees require ten years experience, you are encouraged to focus on those individuals who have made substantial impact on design excellence over a long career. Significant impact or results to the quality of facilities or communities within the Air Force, the command, or an installation is a critical element of evaluation. Generally this award is tailored for an individual with major contributions to design excellence and not just project/program management accomplishments.
